A beautiful 19th century French carved giltwood rosette, retaining wonderfully timeworn original gilding and gesso.

The floral design is centred by a small faceted pink glass cabochon, with the reverse deliberately opened behind the glass to allow light to pass through and illuminate the centre.

Originally likely part of a larger decorative interior scheme, piece of furniture or architectural composition, it now works beautifully as a standalone wall decoration or displayed amongst other antique fragments.
